About QuintSonic T Coating Thickness Gauge

The ElektroPhysik QuintSonic T Coating Thickness Gauge is an advanced ultrasonic coating thickness gauge designed for precise measurement of multiple layers in various industrial applications. It can measure polymer coatings such as paints, varnishes and synthetic materials on different substrates, including metals, plastics, GFRP, CFRP, WPC, and fibre-reinforced composites. It can measure glass, ceramic or metallic coatings on virtually any substrate.

Unlike magnetic or eddy current methods used in many conventional coating thickness gauges, the QuintSonic T uses ultrasonic technology. This allows for non-destructive testing and measurement of multiple layers without damaging the materials. And while traditional coating thickness gauges often have a range of 0-1250μm (with some special ones reaching 0-50mm), the QuintSonic T can measure thicker coatings (up to 7.5 mm in total, depending on the material being measured), making it suitable for a broader range of applications.

The QuintSonic T combines an intelligent ultrasonic sensor with an industrial tablet, integrating the measuring system and evaluation software into a single unit.

Precise and easy to use, the QuintSonic T can measure all typical coating systems such as:

  • Lacquers on synthetic materials
  • Synthetic materials on wood
  • Glass fiber-reinforced plastics (GRP)
  • Glass on metal
  • and many more

The QuintSonic T is particularly well-suited for complex coating systems and materials that may be challenging for conventional thickness gauges.

Sensor
The QuintSonic T uses a SIDSP® (Sensor-Integrated Digital Signal Processing) sensor, an advanced technology with integrated signal processing. The sensor incorporates digital signal processing directly within the sensor unit itself. By processing signals digitally at the sensor level, SIDSP® technology can produce faster and cleaner signals with less noise, leading to more accurate, high-precision measurements and improved reproducibility of results.

Display
Featuring an 8-inch display, the QuintSonic T offers an overview of the result of measurement as well as the corresponding course of the ultrasonic signal (A-scan). Parameters for signal adjustment are displayed simultaneously and can thus be adapted to the current measurement with significant time savings. Subsequent adjustment of parameters is also possible through the new memory option for A-scans.

The QuintSonic T is characterised by simple handling via touch screen and intuitive user guidance. The measuring program offers a clear data structure with integrated test report generation. It is suited for use in harsher environments due to its IP67 and MIL-STD-810G rated enclosure and extremely resistant Gorilla® glass.
